I have been living and working in the Forest of Dean since 2000. Much of my recent work is inspired by the local scenary, such as the River Wye and orchards.
My pictures also feature wildlife and rare breeds of farm animals. I have been interested in wildlife and conservation since childhood.
My pictures are made by sewing fragments of different fabrics onto a hessian background. I lower the feed teeth on the machine so I can draw freely with the thread. Linear elements such as trees are drawn with the thread in this style. Animals are normally appliqued fabric.
I work from sketches, memory and photographs. I do not make a plan, rather start with an image that has caught my eye and let the picture evolve intuitively. My pictures have an organic shape and texture.
